UEG PRESIDENT GIVES INTERVIEW TO AZERTAC
"I would like the European championship to be always held in Azerbaijan,” President of the European Union of Gymnastics Dimitrios Dimitropoulos said in an interview to AZERTAC.
Mr. Dimitropoulos said he is astonished at how well the European Championship is organized in Baku, stressing that the Azerbaijan could be an example for all European countries.
The President of the European Union of Gymnastics said: “I am astonished. For the first time in the history of the European Championship, the President of the country has come to the competition. But this kind of events needs to be supported at a state level. I want to thank President Ilham Aliyev for supporting the competition. If I was asked where I would like to see the next European Championship take place, I would say sincerely - again in Azerbaijan.”
D.Dimitropoulos saw the great changes in Baku in comparison with what he saw during his first trip in 2005 for the World Championship.
On the reality of holding the European Championship and other international competitions in Azerbaijan, the EUG President said that negotiations are underway with the leadership of the country.
