Ukraine ceasefire deal signed in Minsk

Minsk, September 5 (AZERTAC). The participants of the three-party meeting in Minsk have signed a truce deal to end almost five months of fighting, OSCE special envoy on Ukraine Heidi Tagliavini told reporters.

The representatives of the negotiating parties noted that the protocol consisting of several points was signed on 5 September. One of the terms of the protocol is to cease fire at 18:00.

Head of the Lugansk People's Republic Igor Plotnitsky noted that the hostilities should end 18:00 sharp Minsk time.

Prime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko said: “The ceasefire will save people's lives, the lives of civilian population and the lives of those who are fighting for what they believe in”. He added that the representatives of the negotiating parties have not finished their meeting yet; they just came out to make this statement. The negotiations are still ongoing.
