UN Baku Office lowers its flag to mourn Nelson Mandela’s death
Baku, December 13 (AZERTAC). The United Nations` Office in Baku has lowered its flag to mourn the death of former President of the Republic of South Africa Nelson Mandela.
Nelson Mandela passed away on December 5. He will be buried on December 15.
Mandela was the first black president in the history of South Africa from May 1994 to June 1999. For an active struggle against the apartheid regime, Nelson Mandela was sentenced to 27-year imprisonment. In 1993, he was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize.
