US CONGRESSMAN JOINS WORKING GROUP FOR AZERBAIJAN
US Congressman Robert Wittman announced Monday at the House of Representatives that he joined working group for Azerbaijan, AZERTAC`s Washington based correspondent said.
The Congressman has accepted this after meeting with members of Azerbaijani Diaspora, residents of Virginia State Naimi and Naila Amiraliyevs and their newly born child Kamal.
During the meeting with Wittman, Amiraliyevs spoke of activity of Turkic speaking voters living in Virginia, as well as strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and US.
The Amiraliyevs also highlighted the congressman on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stressing Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity was violated by Armenia in defiance of international laws.
According to Naimi Amiraliyev, during the meeting Wittman familiarized himself with the map reflecting the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Amiraliyev said “Robert Wittman had very few information about Azerbaijan. But during our conversation he was impressed on Azerbaijan`s increased role in global energy security and the way of country`s development.”
Robert Wittman is currently the Republican representative of Virginia`s 1st congressional district and also a member of working group for Turkey.
