In an interview to AzerTAj correspondent, the US ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish stressed the importance of the peaceful and fair resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorny Karabakh conflict. He said that history of negotiations shows that even great patriot of Azerbaijan President Heydar Aliyev preferred peaceful resolution of the problem. For over 6 years he exerted great efforts for peaceful resolution of the conflict.

According to Reno Harnish, the US is interested in peaceful and long-term resolution of the conflict. He regarded the appointment of Steven Mann as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group as additional efforts of the USA to be more active in settlement of the conflict.

Having stressed that Nagorny Karabakh conflict poses a great threat to the peace in the region ambassador noted that US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group would soon visit the region. He said that new proposals to settle the problem might be presented soon.
