USA RESTATES ITS SUPPORT FOR TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF AZERBAIJAN
The United States deeply regrets on the tragic events happened 15 years ago in Khojaly and condemns such attacks on the civilians.
US State Department spokesman Sean McCormak in his daily briefing on 26 February has expressed condolence to families and natives of the Khojaly victims, on behalf of the United States. Peaceful and fair resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be quickly found to prevent such human loss in future, he stressed.
Expressing official position of his country, Representative of the State Department said that the United States recognizes territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and as one of the co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group, would promote settlement of the conflict through negotiations.
The Statement of the US Department of State was the answer to the joint address made by Azerbaijan community of the USA to the State Secretary Condoleezza Rice. As known, heads of the Azerbaijan communities in the USA - the Azerbaijan Society of America, “Azerbaijanis of Houston ", the “Azerbaijan-American Council of California and the Congress of Azerbaijanis of the World have addressed the State Secretary with a message, whereby called on the US Government to continue the role of the active intermediary in peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
