USAID INTRODUCES CIPA IN AZERBAIJAN
ACDI/VOCA today has conducted a seminar in the Hyatt Regency hotel under the USAID-funded SME Support through Financial Sector Development Project.
The speakers included ACDI/VOCA Azerbaijan country representative Muhammad Junaid, USAID Azerbaijan Office`s specialist Farid Bakhshiyev, executive director of the Eurasian Council of Certified Accountants and Auditors Dmitry Shyutts, department chief of the Finance Ministry, Elkhan Jafarov and others.
The project aims to introduce the Certified International Professional Accountant (CIPA) in Azerbaijan, encourage accountants to participate in this program and receive certificates meeting the International Accounting Standards (IAS) . Switch to the BMUS and International Financial Reporting Standards are the priorities for Azerbaijan. All strategically important agencies of Azerbaijan must bring their accounts in line with IAS and financial statements with IFRS.
CIPA is the only Russian-language certified training program for professional accountants, financial managers and auditors. It is being successfully implemented in the CIS countries including Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Belarus. The Chamber of Auditors of Azerbaijan is the member of the Eurasian Council of Certified Accountants and Auditors.
Under the program, the three trainings have involved 60 accountants of whom 6 became “certified accountant practitioners” (CAP).
Six accountants who successfully passed exams were given CAP certificates.
