“Via della seta” magazine presented at ADA University
Baku, June 27 (AZERTAC). A ceremony has been held at ADA University to launch “Via della seta” magazine.
Opening the event, head of Azerbaijan-Italy interparliamentary friendship group Azer Karimli said the magazine was published through joint efforts of Italy-Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan-Italy associations. “The quarterly magazine aims to contribute to the development of Azerbaijan-Italy relations.” Mr. Karimli said: “The first edition features articles covering the bilateral relations, as well as the history of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Khojaly Genocide and other issues.”
He praised the role of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva in developing the relations between Azerbaijan and Italy.
“The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is playing an immense role in promoting Azerbaijan`s history, culture and arts in Italy.”
ADA University Vice Rector Fariz Ismayilzade highlighted the university`s relations with Italian higher educational institutions.
Deputy head of the Azerbaijani President`s Administration, chief of the Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov hailed the importance of the event, saying it was “a significant step towards the development of Azerbaijan-Italy relations”.
Mr. Mammadov stressed the role of Azerbaijan-Italy interparliamentary friendship group in the publication of the magazine. “Interparliamentary cooperation is making a great contribution to the overall expansion of the relations between our countries.” “Italy is one of Azerbaijan`s most important partners. Azerbaijan places particular emphasis on its relationship with Italy in all areas,” said Mr. Mammadov.
He lauded the role of president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva in developing cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Italy.
Italian ambassador Giampaolo Cutillo praised the relations between Azerbaijan and Italy. “Our countries enjoy wide cooperation and strong, strategic political and economic partnership.”
Former Vice-Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament Fiorello Provera hailed the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in economic, political humanitarian, healthcare and tourism areas. On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, he said Armenia had to put an end to its policy of aggression and withdraw from Azerbaijan`s occupied lands.
Member of the Italian Senate, head of the Italy-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Sergio Divina said his country attached particular importance to its relationship with Azerbaijan.
Head of Italy-Azerbaijan Association Paola Casagrande provided an insight into the activities of the organization.
