VISIT OF AZERBAIJAN’S PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION TO ROMANIA UNDERWAY
The meeting with Romanian president Traian Basescu was very fruitful for enhancing bilateral relations.
President of Romania asked MM speaker to express gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the hospitality he showed during T. Basesku’s visit to Azerbaijan. It was stressed during the meeting that there are wide opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations. Importance of interparliamentary relations and activity of parliamentary friendship groups was highlighted at the meeting.
MM chairman Ogtay Asadov congratulated the Romanian President on Romania’s joining the European Union. President of Romania said his country supports Azerbaijan’s integration into the European Union and NATO.
The meeting focused on the political, economic, cultural issues, energy security, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, development of ties and other issues.
The meeting between O. Asadov and Traian Basesku was widely covered by the Romanian media.
The parliamentary delegation met December 19 with the deputy chairman of the NATO PA Mikhail Lupoi.
The discussions at the meeting revolved around further development of interparliamentary relations, improvement of work of the working groups for interparliamentary ties, cooperation with international organizations and other important issues.
Later the same day, Azerbaijan Parliamentary delegation laid a wreath to the monument to Ataturk.
Then, the delegation met with Azerbaijan Diaspora and Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society representatives at the Azerbaijan’s embassy to Romania.
The meeting also focused on a number of important issues.
