23RD SITTING OF TURKSOY STANDING COUNCIL UNDERWAY IN ANKARA
The representatives of member countries of the organization - the Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Atilla Koc, the Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev as well as representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Moldova, Northern Cyprus, Bashkiria took part in the opening ceremony of Turksoy administrative building in the Oran district of Ankara.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Atilla Koc stated that the special attention is paid to this organization, as well as cooperation and solidarity of Turkic countries, stressing the necessary steps will be taken for stirring up its activity.
Azerbaijan’s Minister Abulfaz Garayev in his speech noted that TURKSOY founded in 1993 is an authoritative organization for preserving and popularizing Turkic Speaking Nations’ cultural heritage worldwide. The Minister said that Armenian aggression resulted in the destruction of Azerbaijan’s art and historic monuments, architecture, cultural heritage in the lands of Azerbaijan, highlighting the measures being taken by Azerbaijan government to prevent this.
The participants discussed the future plans and the results of the work done by the organization for past period. The organizational issues, as well as election of new TURKSOY chairman is expected to be put onto the agenda in the forthcoming sitting to be held next year.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador in Ankara Zakir Hashimov participated at the sitting as well.
