7th MEETING OF TKA GENERAL ASSEMBLY ENDED IN BAKU
The 7th meeting of the General Assembly of the Union of News Agencies of Turkic speaking countries (TKA) entitled “The role of cooperation of news agencies in the development of relations among the Turkic-speaking states” continued its work in Baku, on Friday.
The meeting started on April 30 under the Azerbaijani State News Agency - AZERTAC brought together the Deputy Director General of Anadolu News Agency Tahsin Akti, director of Kazinform Agency (Kazakhstan) Dauren Diyarov, deputy director of Kabar (Kyrgyz National News Agency) Oleg Ryabov, chairman of the Northern Cyprus News Agency (TAK) Emir Ersoy, general director of Tatar-Inform - Information agency of Tatarstan Leonid Tolchinsky, Deputy Director General of the news-agency "Bashinform" (Bashkortostan) Alik Shakirov and head of the Crimean news agency Gayana Yuksel.
The final day of the meeting saw discussions on admitting the new members to TKA and changing the name and statute of the structure. The meeting participants unanimously decided to rename Union to the Association of the Turkic speaking countries’ news agencies (TKA). The Agencies Tatar-inform, Bashinform and the Crimean News were admitted to the TKA. Thus, number of the new agencies reached ten.
Summing up the results of the meeting, AZERTAC Director General Mr. Aslan Aslanov thanked the heads of news agencies for accepting invitation to arrive in Baku. Mr. Aslanov expressed his confidence that close cooperation between the Turkic speaking countries’ news agencies will make contribution to bringing the unbiased information about life of friendly, fraternal countries and nations.
The participants familiarized themselves with TKA website and adopted the resulting document of the 7th meeting.
