Stellantis to suspend production of cars at Kaluga plant
Baku, April 19, AZERTAC
Stellantis will suspend the production of cars at its plant in Russia’s Kaluga, the automaker said in a statement on Tuesday, according to TASS.
"Given the rapid daily increase in cross sanctions and logistical difficulties, Stellantis has suspended its manufacturing operations in Kaluga to ensure full compliance with all cross sanctions and to protect its employees," the statement said.
The company said in the middle of March that it was searching for opportunities to resume export and import of cars from Russia and to the country.
Founded in 2021 as a result of a merger between the Italian-American producer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with France’s PSA Group, Stellantis corporation owns 14 brands, including Citroёn, Fiat, Opel and Peugeot.
The Kaluga plant assembles Peugeot 408, Traveller, Expert, Partner and Partner Crossway, Opel Combo Cargo, Combo Life, Zafira Life and Vivaro, Citroen С4, SpaceTourer, Jumpy, Berlingo Multispace and Berlingo.
