AGRICULTURE ISSUES IN SPOTLIGHT OF FRANCE EVENTS
The meeting participants heard the reports of representatives of the European commission, food and agriculture organization and countries to which these organizations assist in fighting foot-and-mouth disease. To keep on fighting the disease, participants stressed to send additional vaccines to the South Caucasus countries until late 2004.
Acting Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Irshad Aliyev and chief of the veterinary service Ramiz Safarov participated in the discussions.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to France E. Huseynova attended the event.

The 34th regional conference on Europe of the UN Food and Agriculture organization has taken place in Montpellier, France.
The conference hinged on the issues of sanitary security in Europe quality of food, importance of lands suitable for agriculture, research works on agriculture. 40 FAO acceding countries attended the conference.
Irshad Aliyev and R. Safarov presented information on Azerbaijan. Irshad Aliyev met with FAO director general during the conference. In the course of the meeting the sides discussed the perspectives of collaboration.
It was decided to hold the next conference in Riga, Latvia in 2006.
