“ARIF BABAYEV 70” BOOK PUBLISHED WITH HEYDAR ALIYEV FOUNDATION’S ASSISTANCE
Book “Arif Babayev 70” dedicated to the 70th jubilee of Azerbaijani people’s artist, talented mugam performer, professor Arif Babayev was published with assistance of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Book is illustrated with Arif Babayev’s photos with great leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva.
Edition narrates on the course of life and creative activity of mugham singer Arif Babayev, his contribution to development of mugam art. In 1964, young singer became soloist of Azerbaijani State Philarmonic after M. Magomayev and soloist of Azerbaijani State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in 1966.
A book also recounts Arif Babayev’s pedagogical activity. Mr. Babayev heads mugam faculty of Azerbaijani State Conservatory. He was the first, who get an academic title of professor among Azerbaijani mugam performers. Arif Babayev toured over 60 countries of world to popularize national music- mugam in foreign countries.
Title of honorary artist was conferred upon on him in 1978 and people’s artist in 1989. In 1998, national leader Heydar Aliyev issued an executive order rewarding Arif Babayev with “Shohrat” (Glory) order. On February 15, 2008, President Ilham Aliyev issued an executive order conferring “Istiglal” (Independence) order upon Arif Babayev for his contribution to development of Azerbaijani mugam art.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation also issued 4 CDs of mugam singer.
