Azerbaijan chairs CICA Senior Officials Committee meeting in Astana

The meeting of the Senior Officials Committee (SOC) of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) under Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship was held in Astana.
The meeting highlighted the activity of Azerbaijan within the framework of its presidency of the CICA under the theme of "Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalization, and Sustainable Growth in Asia", the steps undertaken by the country across various areas of cooperation. Discussions also focused on priority areas of cooperation among the member states.
The Azerbaijani delegation provided updates on the progress toward advancing transformation of the CICA into an international organization, including the progress of negotiations on the relevant draft Charter.
The event also featured an annual assessment of the implementation of confidence-building measures in the military-political domains of the CICA.
The participants reviewed the development of cooperation in the military-political sphere by the member states and the role of the CICA as a multilateral military security platform in this area.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the draft Action Plan of the CICA Think Tank Forum (TTF), reviewed concept documents on the implementation of confidence-building measures across various domains of the CICA, as well as adopted the concept document “On the development of small and medium-sized businesses.”
