AZERBAIJAN DELEGATION ATTENDED EBRD ANNUAL MEETING
As was informed the correspondent of AzerTAj in the press-service of the ministry, at the meeting have been marked consecutive growth of economy in Azerbaijan, creation of favorable conditions for investment investments, it was in detail spoken about the measures undertaken last years in the direction of development of small and medium business. All this has given a powerful pulse to inflow of foreign investments to the economy of our country.
At the meeting, it has been marked that for today the sum of the credits, allocated to Azerbaijan under the state guarantee, has reached 130 million US dollars, and commercial credits - 10 million US dollars. At the same time, was marked the presence of more potential for expansion of cooperation and underlined the expediency of more active participation of the European Reconstruction and Development Bank in realization of regional projects.
Within the framework of annual meeting, was held presentation of the country.
Speaking were the deputy minister of economic development Mikail Jabbarov, chairman of Association of the Banks of Azerbaijan Zakir Nuriyev, the head of the Baku office of European Reconstruction and Development Bank Raymond Convey, director of business group of this international financial structure on energy Peter Rangier, who informed on the successes achieved in economic progress of our country, about carried out large-scale regional projects, the work done in connection with acceleration of development of non-oil sector and regions.
It has been underlined that due to the strong stability established in Azerbaijan, are being conducted large-scale economic reforms as a result of which has been achieved irreversible rates of growth of gross domestic product (GDP). Presentation of the country has been met with deep interest.
Within the framework of visit, were held a number of important bilateral meetings.
The head of Azerbaijan delegation Farhad Aliyev has met the president of the European Reconstruction and Development Bank Jean Lemierre. Having noted at the meeting that reduction of poverty, development of non-oil sector, opening of new workplaces are priorities for the government of Azerbaijan, Minister Farhad Aliyev stated on interest of our country in expansion of cooperation in the field of telecommunications, infrastructure, bank sphere, the agrarian industry, small and medium business. Also were discussed the questions of risk credits, financings of projects at absence of the state guarantee.
President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jean Lemierre has noted that the lifted questions will be considered, stating that in Azerbaijan successfully were carried out reforms, financial stability was established, also emphasized importance of inclusion of our Republic in the list of the countries financed at absence of the state guarantee.
Having expressed satisfaction with development of cooperation with Azerbaijan, Jean Lemierre has named our country “core of the Caucasus” and informed, that in the mid-May would visit Baku.
At the meetings held with director of business - group of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Olivie de Camphene, the president of Islamic Bank of Development Ahmed Mohammad Ali, the general director of OPEC Fund Suleyman Al-Harbish meetings had been expressed satisfaction with the present level of cooperation, and also reforms conducted in Azerbaijan.
At the meetings has been marked the importance of improvement of work on management of projects, acceleration of solution of the question on opening in Azerbaijan of the office of Islamic Bank of Development for the further expansion of links.
Within the framework of visit, Mr. Farhad Aliyev has held also meetings with Minister of Economics of Albania, Minister of Finance of Macedonia and others. Discussed were prospects of expansion of mutual cooperation with Azerbaijan.
