AZERBAIJAN EXHIBITION OPENED IN INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND
The idea of the organization of exhibition has arisen, say, casually. Representative of the International Monetary Fund, who has seen in the gallery in Washington works of young artist Shahin Shikhalyiev, has become interested in them. He has shared impressions with the Society of Art of the Fund. And the Society, in turn, has suggested the American - Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce to act with the joint project. «Giz Galasi» gallery in Baku promoted the choice of products and their delivery from Azerbaijan.
On ceremony of solemn opening there has arrived the director general director of International Monetary Fund Rodrigo de Rato. In the statement, Mr. de Rato has told that works of our artists have very much liked him. Among visitors also were executive director of IMF on Azerbaijan Fritz Zurbrugg , ambassador of our country in USA Hafiz Pashayev. In the opening address, ambassador Pashaev has emphasized that the culture and art of Azerbaijan gradually become known in such political center, as Washington.
In conversation with correspondent of AzerTAj, executive director of Azerbaijan trading and cultural center Seymur Khalilov has told: “This exhibition is for the spectators a little bit distinguished from the usual audience. As the exhibition is carried out in the International Monetary Fund, among spectators are representatives of IMF and the World Bank, other international and diplomatic circles.
And executive director of IMF on Azerbaijan Fritz Zurbrugg has told: “It is pleasant, that my colleagues in the International Monetary Fund and inhabitants of Washington get acquainted with a part of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. At our financial structure more than 180 members. In museums you can usually familiarize with culture of the European countries. However, the opportunity to see art of Azerbaijan is seldom given”.
The exhibition will be shown also in New York in September during session of General Assembly of the United Nations. Organizers trust that modern Azerbaijan art will not leave indifferent the wide international audience participating in session of the United Nations.
