AZERBAIJAN JUDO FIGHTERS WIN TWO WORLD CUP MEDALS
Azerbaijani judo fighters won two medals on the first day of the World Cup tournament in Baku on Saturday.
Samir Ismayilov won 73 kg silver after loosing the final bout to Ukrainian Genady Bilodid.
Ukrainian Petro Kuzmin won gold in the 73 kg category.
Another Azerbaijani athlete Ramil Gasimov took bronze in the 66 kg class thanks to a victory over Portuguese Dias Pedro.
French Sebastian Bertolot claimed 66 kg gold.
In the 60 kg category, gold medal went to Great Britain after Craig Fallon defeated Greek Lavrentis Aleksanidis in final.
Prior to medal deciding bouts, an official opening ceremony of the tournament was held.
Speakers at the ceremony included Azerbaijan`s Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Fizuli Alakbarov and President of the European Judo Union Sergey Soloveichik.
On Sunday the tournament will see competition in four weight categories.
