AZERBAIJAN MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE MEETS US DELEGATION
Azerbaijan Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov met May 22 with the delegates of the US Department of State.
Mr. Abbasov updated the guests on the reforms being implemented in the agrarian area, the priority directions of the agriculture and the investment opportunities.
Azeri Minister underlined the direct participation of US government in different large-scale projects, including agrarian area.
Geychay milk refining plant manufactures the high-quality production of 18 descriptions due to the financial and technical support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Minister said. Besides, the up-to-date warehouse for storage of the agricultural production, as well as the banian hospitals were built in Jalilabad with the financial support of US government. The Valmont Company carried out the irrigation works in Bilasuvar and Yevlakh regions, added Mr. Abbasov.
Chief manager of the US Department of Agriculture Kirk Miller, special envoy of the State Department for Commerce and Business Franc Mermud highly valued the reforms being implemented not only in the oil sector, but also in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan.
“Bringing of the agricultural production to the international standards will let export Azerbaijan production to the USA, the West and the East”, said US representatives.
Minister Ismat Abbasov, in his turn, thanked the guests for attention paid to the agrarian sector of Azerbaijan and expressed hope for further enhancement of all-round cooperation between the two countries.
