Azerbaijan presents the document on country's accession to COTIF

Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland and Liechtenstein Ekrem Zeynalli has presented the document on country's accession to the Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) to Mr. François Davenne, OTIF Secretary General, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Switzerland said.
The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and OTIF after completion of procedural rules of Azerbaijan's accession to the Convention.
Mr. François Davenne stressed Azerbaijan's importance as a leading regional country and its participation in OTIF operations. He, in particular, noted the structural projects being implemented by Azerbaijan which are important for entire region. The OTIF Secretary General especially underlined the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.
Mr. François Davenne said OTIF and the Azerbaijan Transport Ministry were working on preparation of a joint seminar in Baku in December current year.
Azerbaijan joined the COTIF version of May 9, 1980 with amendments made on June 3, 1999.
