AZERBAIJAN TO BAN NON-EURO-2 STANDARD CARS
Baku, 12 February (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan will ban the import of vehicles that do not meet the European standards. The standard Euro-2, regulating the quality of petroleum products and harmful substances in exhaust gases, will come into effect on 1 July 2010. This statement was made by Ramiz Hasanov, chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of Azerbaijan at today`s press conference in Baku.
"If the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases of a car does not meet the standards, its imports in Azerbaijan will be banned", he said.
He also noted that next week the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan will take an appropriate decision on this matter.
The President of Azerbaijan has announced 2010 as a Year of Ecology.
