Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan explore enhancing cooperation in religious affairs

A delegation of Azerbaijan, led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, visited Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to attend the First International Islamic Civilization Forum.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Muzaffar Komilov, Head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan.
The officials highlighted the steady development of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations, attributing the progress to the political will and consistent efforts of the two countries' leaders. They welcomed the expansion of cooperation across various fields, including religious affairs, describing bilateral ties, rooted in shared historical and cultural values, as exemplary.
The meeting also underscored the importance of the inaugural Meeting of the Heads of State Bodies Responsible for Religious Affairs of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Shusha, in strengthening institutional cooperation on religious affairs across the Turkic world.
The sides also discussed expanding exchanges of expertise, implementing joint projects, and enhancing cooperation in religious education between the relevant institutions of the two countries.
They expressed confidence that the First International Islamic Civilization Forum would contribute to promoting the rich heritage of Islamic civilization and fostering the values of enlightenment and intercultural dialogue.
Also in attendance was Sodik Toshboev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan.
