Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has chaired a meeting the 15th Joint Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Member States.

In his opening speech at the meeting, FM Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of continuing OIC reforms, which started several years ago and intensifying partnership with relevant regional organizations.

The Minister also pointed out Azerbaijan was co-author of the resolution "Cooperation between the UN and ASEAN" which was adopted at the 63rd and 75th sessions of the UN General Assembly in 2008 and 2020. According to him, the conduct of the meeting of the OIC-ASEAN Foreign Ministers during Azerbaijan's OIC chairmanship, is a manifestation of the importance that Azerbaijan attaches to the above-mentioned organizations.

He noted that Azerbaijan's 2023 OIC Chairmanship themed green transition and interconnection reflects a common regional vision on broad regional connectivity, economic transformation, green energy and climate resilience, and that the regional connectivity theme is of special significance for Azerbaijan and other landlocked member states.
