AZERBAIJANI-NORWEGIAN MUSEUMS PROJECT INAUGURATED
The first phase of the project entitled “Relations between Azerbaijani-Norwegian Museums” was inaugurated on February 23 in Baku. Attending the ceremony Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Abulfas Garayev said in terms of international experience the project is very important for museum employees in Azerbaijan.
The Minister noted the museums in Azerbaijan are being repaired.
A. Garayev also pointed out that the Ministry of Culture has developed and submitted relevant State Program to improve the activity of museums to the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, close cultural relations were established between Azerbaijani and Norwegian museums during the last two years. So, Archaeological Museum of Stavanger and Azerbaijan’s Museum Center signed a cooperation agreement in 2007. According to the agreement three-phase seminar-trainings are planned to be held.
Addressing the event, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Stavanger Harald Jacobsen said very experienced museum employees had been involved to the seminar-trainings. There was great public interest during “Karvansaray. Azerbaijan - the land of fire” exhibition organized in the Norwegian city of Stavanger.
The website of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan was presented at the event. The website includes any information regarding Azerbaijan’s culture, art, old traditions, as well as museums.
