AZERBAIJANI SPEAKER MEETS GERMAN DELEGATION
Azerbaijan’s Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov met Tuesday with German delegation headed by Franz Thonnes, Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs.
Asadov said Germany is one of Azerbaijan’s closest European partners. “Azerbaijan is involved in several NATO programs and always feels Germany’s great support in this field”, the Speaker stressed.
Ogtay Asadov pointed out that the signing of a memorandum on joint cooperation between Azerbaijan Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the German Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs have opened a new page in Azerbaijan-Germany relations.
The Speaker went on to say that parliaments play special role in developing relations between the two countries.
He also recalled that he had invited the head of German Bundestag to attend celebrations to mark the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Parliament in June.
Speaking of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Asadov highly praised Germany’s support towards Azerbaijan’s fair stance in this question.
Franz Thonnes expressed satisfaction with development of Azerbaijan-Germany relationship, saying mutual visits by top government and parliament officials are of key importance in this.
