Azerbaijan’s religious affairs chief meets with OTS counterparts in Shusha

On June 30, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations of Azerbaijan, met with the religious affairs chiefs of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), on the margins of the First Meeting of the Heads of State Bodies Responsible for Religious Affairs of the OTS in Shusha.
Ramin Mammadov held talks with Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary General; Safi Arpaguş, Head of Türkiye’s Directorate of Religious Affairs; Rustam Ali, Vice Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Talantbek Tashybekov, Chairman of the National Agency for Religious Affairs and Interethnic Relations under the President of Kyrgyzstan; and Sodiq Toshboev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan.
Their discussions focused on collaboration within the OTS, the preservation of shared spiritual values, and the enhancement of coordinated efforts in religious affairs, as well as combatting religious radicalism and extremism. They also stressed the importance of expertise sharing among the relevant institutions.
The officials also emphasized that a new mechanism for cooperation in the field of religious affairs would contribute significantly toward enhancing the existing fruitful cooperation model among the OTS religious bodies, fostering regular contacts, and advancing joint projects across the Turkic world.
The visiting officials extended their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the excellent organization of the event, describing the meeting as an important platform for elevating the institutional ties among the OTS member states to a new level.
