Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister Safar Abiyev met Thursday Commander of the Turkish Air Force Aydogan Babaoglu.

Abiyev said Azerbaijan and Turkey have always had strong relations.

The Azeri Minister said Azerbaijan has always felt Turkey`s support in difficult times, adding Turkey was first country to recognize his country`s independence.

He said the two countries are successfully cooperating in the military sphere.

Safar Abiyev noted Azerbaijan`s army has considerably strengthened in the past few years, and praised Turkey`s assisting the country in increasing its army potential.

The Minister said Azerbaijan and Turkey have common interests, where withdrawal of Armenian aggressors from Azerbaijan`s territories is the major element.

Commander of the Turkish Air Force Aydogan Babaoglu said Turkey will always remain committed to the “one nation - two states” principle.

Turkey`s Ambassador in Baku Hulusi Kilic and military attaché Fahri Kir were also present at the meeting.
