Baku Engineering University introduces 3 dual diploma programs and new specialties

Baku, July 27, AZERTAC

A number of significant innovations have been reflected in Baku Engineering University's (BEU) approved undergraduate-level student admission plan for the 2026/2027 academic year. The opening of new specialties, the expansion of admission opportunities, and the implementation of dual diploma programs within the framework of international cooperation offer applicants broader choices and important opportunities for their future careers.

Specifically, the number of specialties at BEU's undergraduate level has increased from 39 to 41. A total of 2,929 admission places have been allocated across the specialties to be taught, representing an increase of 344 additional places compared to last year. Of the allocated places, 1,885 are for the Azerbaijani-language division (full-time), 135 places are for the correspondence (part-time) form of education, and 909 places are designated for the English-language division (full-time).

Among the 2 new specialties added to the undergraduate admission plan are "Software Engineering" and "International Relations." Regarding the admission places allocated to the new specialties, 30 places have been designated for the "Software Engineering" specialty in the full-time Azerbaijani-language division, and 25 places for the "International Relations" specialty in the full-time English-language division.

Another important innovation is the implementation of dual diploma programs at BEU's undergraduate level in 3 separate directions with new specialties.

One of these is the dual diploma program being carried out between BEU and Inha University of South Korea since the 2020/2021 academic year within the framework of the "State Program on Enhancing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System for 2019-2023." The duration of the State Program was extended until 2030 by an Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated 22 July 2025. In the second phase of the program, admission is being conducted for new specialty directions - "Computer Science" (Artificial Intelligence Engineering), "Data Analytics" (Data Science), "Information Technologies," and "Electrical and Electronics Engineering."

The other dual diploma program is being implemented between BEU and Beijing University of Chemical Technology of China, covering 6 specialties - "Chemical Engineering," "Computer Engineering," "Mechanical Engineering," "Chemistry," "Biotechnology," and "Business Administration." This has gone down in history as the first undergraduate-level dual diploma program implemented between Azerbaijani and Chinese universities. Under the program, based on the 2+2 model, students who successfully complete their 1st and 2nd years at BEU will, after passing the relevant procedures, continue their 3rd and 4th years of study in China and obtain two diplomas.

The third dual diploma program will be implemented within the framework of the "BUCT-BEU Faculty of Engineering," jointly established by BEU and Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), which begins operating this year. Teaching at the faculty will be organized based on a 3+1 model. Students who meet certain academic requirements will study for 3 years in Azerbaijan and 1 year in China, gaining the opportunity to obtain diplomas from both universities. The faculty will train specialists in "Computer Science," "Chemistry," "Biotechnology," and "Mechanical Engineering," and the teaching process will be conducted by professors from both universities.

No aptitude examination is envisaged for the specialties of "Architecture," "Design (Interior Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design)," and "Decorative and Applied Arts (Ceramic Art, Glass, Carpet, Textile Art)" included in the admission plan.

In addition, the correspondence (part-time) form of education at the undergraduate level is also reflected in the admission plan. A total of 9 specialties (International Trade and Logistics, Business Administration, State and Municipal Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Transport Services (in Road Transport), and Organization of Tourism Business) will also be taught in the correspondence form of education.
