Baku marks 151st anniversary of Azerbaijan’s national press

On July 22, an event marking the 151st anniversary of Azerbaijan’s national press was held in Baku, organized by the Azerbaijan Media Development Agency.
In his remarks, Daghbeyi Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Media Development Agency, highlighted the crucial role of the 151-year path of development of the Azerbaijani national press in the socio-political and cultural life of the country.
“The attention and care shown to the national press and journalists by National Leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully being continued today by President Ilham Aliyev. Comprehensive reforms remain underway across the country to safeguard freedom of speech, protect press freedom, and foster a modern media landscape,” the Deputy Chairman of Board mentioned.
Other speakers included MP Vugar Rahimzada; Saadat Mammadova, Deputy Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Press Council; and Rafig Hashimov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC.
Subsequently, a video highlighting the path of development of Azerbaijani national press was screened.
The event proceeded with an artistic program.
