Berlin to host FIDE World Chess Rapid and Blitz Championship

FIDE World Chess Rapid and Blitz Championship will today start in Berlin, Germany.
The highly anticipated tournament gathers 200 top chess players, including 161 grandmasters.
The tournament will be attended by Magnus Carlsen, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Alexander Grischuk, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Vassily Ivanchuk, Anand Viswanathan, David Navara, Sergey Karjakin, Bohdanovych Stanislav, as well as Azerbaijani grandmasters Teymur Rajabov, Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Rauf Mammadov, Gadir Huseynov, Eltaj Safarli, Namig Guliyev and Zaur Mammadov.
The Prize Fund for both Championships to be shared by the players totals $400,000. Both Rapid and Blitz Championships will be Swiss pairings tournaments and will be held over three days for Rapid and two days for Blitz. The Rapid will be fifteen rounds, with a single game for each round. The Blitz will have 21 rounds, with a single game for each round.
