CASPIAN OIL & GAS-2004 OPENS IN BAKU NEXT WEEK
Minister for fuel and energy Majid Kerimov, deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov, special RF presidential representative for the Caspian Sea Victor Kalyuzhny, president of BP Azerbaijan David Woodward will make reports on this subject. Drew Goodbred, general manager, Exxon Mobil, will read a report on the company activities in the Caspian region. President of Statoil Azerbaijan George Gundersen will review his company activities. Sabr Yessimbekov, deputy managing director, "KazMunaiGas" NC" CJSC, Anatoly Novikov, vice president for geology and development, "Lukoil", Michael Townsend, executive director of BTC Co, who will read a report on Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline construction, Rob Kelly, BP vice president for "Shahdeniz" project, who will read a report on "Shahdeniz" gas condensate field development will also make their reports on first day of the conference. Vasilios Tsompapulos, general director of Depa Gas company from Greece, will advised the audience about gas transportation to Greece and further to Europe.
"Caspian Regional Development - the role and strategic objectives of public sector multi-lateral organizations and Regional and local economic impact" is the subject of the conference's day two (June 3). Samir Sharifov, managing director, State Oil Fund of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOFAR), Charlotte Philips, senior banker for natural resources, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (report on "Transparency and sustainability of oil and gas developments"), a lead economist for South Caucasus, World Bank (report on "The World Bank's role in helping to ensure that extractive industries benefit Society") and others will deliver their speeches.
"Caspian region energy industry development needs - technology, operations and maintenance" is the subject of the third session. Khoshbakt Yusufzade, vice president, SOCAR, Farhad Aliyev, minister for economic development, Republic of Azerbaijan, and Dr Ken Forrest, former Director, Offshore Supplies Office, UK Government Department of Trade and Industry will make keynote addresses on this issue.
