CIS EXHIBITION TO OPEN IN MOSCOW

The international exhibition-forum CIS: Fuel, Energy and Raw-Material Resources is opening in Moscow on Tuesday.

As informs AzerTAj correspondent conferring to the RIA Novosti, during four days the largest companies of the fuel and energy, raw material and machine-building complexes of the CIS states will demonstrate the latest technologies, materials, equipment, construction machines and equipment, technologies of exploration and survey of oil deposits, and working clothes.

Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine will participate in the exhibition-forum. The exhibition will have thematic sections - the fuel industry (exploration, extraction, transportation and processing), pipeline transport, and the power industry.

"The exhibition will become a kind of starting point for the fulfillment of the Plan to Enhance Effectiveness of the States' Interaction in the Economic Sphere adopted by the Council of Heads of State in Yalta in 2003," officials of the CIS Executive Committee said.

"Life has shown that most of the Commonwealth states are unable to supply consumers on their own with the necessary volume of electric and thermal energy because of the insufficiency of their own fuel and energy resources, and especially of organic fuel reserves," the Executive Committee officials noted.

They pointed out in this connection that "synchronized operation of the Commonwealth states' energy systems is of immense importance." Today 13 out of 15 national energy systems of the CIS and Baltic countries (except Turkmenistan and Armenia for technical reasons) participate in the parallel operation.

"The question of integration of the CIS' electricity sector with the electricity sector of the TransEuropean Synchronous Integrated Energy System of the countries of Western, Central and South-Eastern Europe (TESIS) has become strategically important today," the CIS Executive Committee officials emphasized.
