CONFERENCE ON LABOR PROTECTION HELD
Minister of Labor and Social Security of the Population Ali Nagiyev noted in his address that Ministry initiated to mark the World Labor Protection Day since this year. The Minister stressed that protection of workers’ labor and creation of healthy and safe working condition is always in the focus of attention of the Azerbaijani Government. According to A. Nagiyev, a State Labor Inspection was lately formed to strengthen control over the labor protection and application of the current legislation of Azerbaijan.
The major purpose of the conference is to discuss work results towards enhancement of the production culture, lessen the number of accidents at work and professional diseases, and improve working conditions.
According to the statistics, improper observance of standards and rules of labor protection and safety measures results in 160 million professional diseases and 270 million accidents yearly all over the world. By all accounts, it causes deaths of 2 million workers and damages of 4 percent of the world GDP. 157 accidents and 30 deaths have occurred on average in Azerbaijan for the passed 5 years.
To find joint and effective solutions to the problems concerning labor protection in Azerbaijan conference participants decided to establish a bilateral cooperation between the State Labor Inspection and National Confederation of Employer Organizations.
Speakers noted that celebration of the World Labor Protection Day is important in the view of reducing the possible accidents, creating healthy working conditions.
