DEFENSE MINISTERS OF RUSSIA AND GEORGIA NEGOTIATED IN MOSCOW
Following the signing ceremony, Georgian Minister Georgiy Baramidze stated the parties had reached absolute mutual understanding as to demilitarization of Georgia-Ossetia conflict zone. He stood for presence of peacekeeping forces in some districts, which are entrusted to peacekeepers. During the press conference at RIA Novosti, Georgia Defense Minister stated as well that his country is interested in peaceful resolution of the Georgia-Ossetia conflict and noted that Georgia remains devoted to the political resolution not only for humanitarian reasons but also for pragmatic ones. “We have the international law, Russia supporting our territorial integrity and time on our side”, - he said. “We consider Russia as a country, which is building democracy, and wishes to have good neighbors. No Georgian defense doctrine contains a single word of a serious threat from Russia, he concluded.
