DEFENSE MINISTRIES OF AZERBAIJAN AND KYRGYZSTAN SIGN AGREEMENT
Before the meeting, the defense minister of Kyrgyzstan and his entourage have visited the Alley of Honors and revered the memory of founder of the Azerbaijan state, national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, laid wreath on his tomb. Then, the guests have visited the Alley of Shehids and revered memories of the courageous sons and daughters of Azerbaijan who fell for independence and territorial integrity of Motherland.
Colonel-general Safar Abiyev stated that after President Heydar Aliyev and President Askar Akayev signed the agreement on friendship and cooperation, the relations between the two countries have acquired higher level. He touched upon the links between the countries in all fields, including in the military sphere in the frame of the CIS Defense Ministers’ Council and NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” Program.
During the meeting, Safar Abyev and Esen Topoyev have signed the “Agreement on military cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan”. The document envisions cooperation in the military-economic, military-technical, military education and staff training, as well as military reforms and other fields.
