EAST-WEST BAKU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL KICKED OFF
Baku, 19 September (AZERTAC). Opening ceremony of the 11th East-West Baku International Film Festival took place in the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
The producers from Azerbaijan, Russia, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Iran, Germany, France, Turkey, Israel, Spain, Belgium, Holland and Bulgaria will demonstrate their movies.
TURKSOY Director General Dusen Kaseinov underlined that Koroglu opera by Azerbaijani eminent composer Uzeyir Hajibayov was staged in the Opera and Ballet Theater at the initiative of TURKSOY. The films of the Turkic speaking countries will be also demonstrated here that show the unity of the nations.
Mr. Kaseinov presented a small bust of Koroglu to the Chairman of Azerbaijan Cinematographers Union Rustam Ibrahimbayov.
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev noted that well-known people of art from numerous countries arrived to the film festival. Due to instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, the film studio was supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and Nizami cinema will be reconstructed.
Rector of Baku Musical Academy, professor Farhad Badalbayli emphasized that conducting an international festival is a momentous event on Uzeyir Hajibayov`s birthday.
Rustam Ibrahimbayov said the 11th festival demonstrates the films of Moslem countries as Baku city was announced a capital of the Islamic culture in 2009.
