ECONOMIC SITUATION OF WOMEN IN AZERBAIJAN
Economically active part of the population was 3777,5 people in Azerbaijan and 3726,5 of the are working (1778,5 thousand women). The number of economically active women amounts to 1806,4.
Women are mostly working in the social spheres. Women make up 67 percent of health sector workers and 45 percent of education sector. Although, women dominate among teachers of elementary and senior classes while they make just 31 percent of the management.
69,2 percent of women able of working are employed in private sector while 30,8 percent – in state sector. The percentage of women in managerial structures of economy and social sector come to 33 percent. Most of women engaged in business are working in micro and small enterprises and just a little part in medium and big ones.
Despite the equality between men and women in property matters there are no official stats indicating the real participation of women in the privatization. According to unofficial information, 90 percent of owners are men.
