Egypt’s PM follows-up Parliamentary re-elections of first round
Cairo, October 27, AZERTAC
Egypt’s Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail follows up on Tuesday the electoral process of the Parliamentary re-election, according to el-balad.
Egyptian citizens start voting for the Parliamentary re-election of the first round on Tuesday, the country’s first in more than three years.
The voting marks the final and third step in a roadmap for democratic transition announced following Mursi’s ouster. The other two steps were rewriting an Islamist-influenced constitution and holding a presidential election. Both were carried out last year.
Egypt started voting last week on Sunday in long-awaited elections, the final step in a process that aimed to put the country back on a democratic course.
The voting takes place over two rounds on Oct 18-19 and Nov 22-23.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi called on Egyptians to vote in a televised speech Saturday.
"Line up in front of polling stations and plant with your votes the hope for a bright tomorrow for our new Egypt," he said.
Security is tight across the country with at least 185,000 troops supporting police, Egyptian news agency Mena reported.
