Employee of ANAS Genetics Research Institute becomes new Borlaug Fellow
Baku, September 21 (AZERTAC). Dr. Eldar Mustafayev, assistant professor at the Genetics Research Institute is visiting Washington State University for the Foreign Agricultural Service`s (FAS) Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellowship Program, a program named in honor of the “Father of the Green Revolution.” He is spending three months in the virology laboratory of Dr. Hanu R. Pappu, Sam Smith Distinguished Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology. During his stay, Dr. Mustafayev will be studying the population structure and genetic diversity of selected cereal viruses and evaluate accessions and breeding lines for virus resistance.
The Borlaug Fellowship program offers training and collaborative research opportunities to scientists, researchers and policymakers from 26 eligible countries.
