EUROPEAN COUNCIL WELCOMES COURT-LEGAL REFORMS IN AZERBAIJAN
Prosecutor General of the Republic updated the guests on the legal state construction process, and progressive reforms in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms, the works done to fulfill the obligations Azerbaijan took before the COE after the Country became member of the Council of Europe.
As stated by the President of Azerbaijan Republic on 29 April 2004 at the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the people of Azerbaijan support COE membership and relevant actions that promote speedy integration of the Country to the world organizations.
In the course of meeting, also was stressed progressive tendency of the ongoing court-legal reforms in the Republic of Azerbaijan, close cooperation of Azerbaijan with the Council of Europe in implementation of these reforms.
The parties had comprehensive exchange of views on ensuring of reliable human rights and development of democratic processes.
Also was stressed the necessity of continuation of the progressive reforms and absence of alternative of the democratic development way, as well as the importance of expansion of constructive links between the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan Republic.
