Baku, September (AZERTAC) On September 1, the first Azerbaijani school was opened in Bern, Switzerland, State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis living Abroad said.

Azerbaijani schoolchildren and parents from various parts of the country participated in the opening ceremony of the school.

In the first day of school, the schoolchildren were familiarized with the education methods and principals and passed exams on the Azerbaijani language.

Then, the participants were acquainted with the Bern City`s sights.

Today, over 40 thousands of Azerbaijanis live in Switzerland.
