FIRST LADY ATTENDS OPENING OF DAY OF AZERBAIJAN IN UNESCO

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, First Lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva arrived in Paris to attend the opening of the Day of Azerbaijan in UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The event was held within the week of “Dialog among civilizations” marking the 60th anniversary of UNESCO.

At the Organization’s headquarters, Azerbaijan’s First Lady was welcomed by its Deputy Director General Mr. Marcio Barbosa, Chief of Program of Celebrity Advocates Mrs. Basma Irsheid, Chief of Protocol Mr. Jean-Luc Chane and chief of Azerbaijan’s permanent representative office in UNESCO Mrs. Eleonora Huseynova and other officials.

After Mehriban Aliyeva and UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura viewed the photo exhibition reflecting picturesque nature and rich culture of Azerbaijan as well as its traditions and examples of its people’s cultural heritage, they addressed the event’s opening ceremony.

Then, Azerbaijani singers performed a concert.

The event ended with a lavish banquet, at which the guests tasted various Azerbaijani dishes.
