FOREIGN TRADE TURNOVER BETWEEN AZERBAIJAN AND UKRAINE ON RISE
Ukraine is one of the pivotal partners of Azerbaijan in foreign trade. Even during Soviet times, Ukraine was the second republic after Russia among foreign trade partners. However, following the break-up of the USSR the volume of foreign trade turnover between the countries drastically decreased. This process continued until 2002. In that year, the volume of foreign trade turnover doubled against 2001 up to $92899,8 million. The growth rate was kept in 2003. Thus, volume of trade turnover increased 150,5 percent (import - 148,4 percent, export - by 163,3 percent). In Azerbaijan’s import, Ukraine moved from 9th place to 5 and from 16th to 13th in the export. Azerbaijan mainly imported vacuum pumps, compressors, parts of fans, sugar, and unrefined sunflower-seed oil. The export included jet-engine oil, hulled filbert, fruits etc.
