GERMANY AND POLAND REVERED MEMORY OF WARSAW REBELS
As known, the forces of Polish Movement of Resistance, rising on 1 August 1944 a revolt to liberate Warsaw under the occupation of the German-fascist occupants, and in continuing 63 days of bloody street battles have lost more than 200 thousands people and failed.
AzerTAj correspondent reported from Berlin, as saying that at the Berlin Hedwig cathedral present were representatives of public of Poland and Germany, and among those were the survivors of the Movement of Resistance, who revered memory of the victims of the Warsaw rebellion and went to the capital of Poland to take part at the major action.
The governmental delegation of Germany headed by Federal Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder took part at the ceremony.
Prior to start of the ceremony, head of the German Government and his followers visited the newly opened museum “The Warsaw Rebellion”, and then assigned a wreath to the monument erected at the central square in memory of the rebels. In his speech, head of the German government said: “Beginning from this day, the German-Polish friendship is founded”.
