Head of Azerbaijani Wrestling Federation Fazil Mammadov today has met with Azerbaijani male and female wrestlers and their coaches, who attended the European Wrestling Championship in the Finnish city of Tampere.

Mr. Mammadov congratulated wrestlers on their victory and wished them successes in the upcoming competitions and the Olympiad.

Freestyle male wrestlers Jamsulvara Jamsulvarayev (74kg), Norvuz Temrezov (84kg), Ali Isayev (120 kg) grabbed bronze, while Emin Azizov snatched bronze and license for Beijing Olympiad. Female wrestlers Mariya Stadnik (48kg) grabbed gold, Elvira Mursalova (59kg) silver medals.

Greco-Roman wrestlers Rovshan Bayramov (55kg) snatched gold and license for Beijing Olympiad beating his Armenian rival. In the team event, the wrestlers ranked 3rd among 31 countries, leaving behind the strongest from Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany and Hungary.
