On behalf of the American people, I extend congratulations to you on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Republic Day. The world has changed a great deal since the Republic of Azerbaijan first proclaimed its independence 86 years ago. On thing that remains unchanged are the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijan people.
I welcome Azerbaijan’s strong partnership with the United States in these early years of the 21st century, as we work together for peace, regional stability, economic development and democratic transition. Our soldiers serve together in the war on terrorism and in the cause of peace. Americans truly appreciate Azerbaijan’s contributions.
Please convey my greetings and warm wishes to the people of Azerbaijan for this Republic Day 2004.
