I would like to congratulate You most sincerely on the occasion of Republic Day-National Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and extend the wishes of the best of success and well being to you and all the people of Azerbaijan.
Since the establishment of relations in the inter-war period, Lithuania and Azerbaijan have been basing their development on the mutual understanding and respect.
It is gratifying to see today the increasingly broadening contacts between our countries and their extension to ever new areas. Also, we witness intensifying dialogue between Lithuania and Azerbaijan, stronger economic cooperation and taking up new forms of cooperation in culture and sports.
Lithuania supports a more active engagement of the European Union and NATO with the countries of the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan among them. We stand ready to contribute through practical assistance to the strengthening of relations between Azerbaijan and the Euro-Atlantic community.
The record of our relationships shows that our countries have enormous potential for cooperation enhancement, which, I am convinced, they will make use of Your, Mr. President, visit to Lithuania would give a new stimulus to the development of cooperation between Lithuania and Azerbaijan and the advancement of relations between our countries.
