The “Caspian oil & gas-2004” Exhibition is the first one being conducted under your patronage. As previous years, France officially takes part in this arrangement.
This arrangement gives an opportunity to France to re-demonstrate its trust in Azerbaijan, in particular, in the oil & gas policy, pursued by the late President Heydar Aliyev. This confidence was demonstrated in the course of your first, after Presidential elections, foreign visit - Your first official visit to France, in January.
It has been laid foundation for extremely important project – BTC pipeline in the history of Azerbaijan. The Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum is planned for future. Due to these two projects, Azerbaijan will be directly linked with the world markets of oil and gas. Oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan will bring financial flow, necessary for many-sided development of economy.
France has made every effort for successful implementation of these projects. It attended the consortiums of the pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and the Southern Caucasus pipeline, creation of infrastructure necessary for exploration of the field “Shahdeniz”, providing by one-third commercial investments of the French banks necessary for Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan.
Mr. President, in start of the new era, I wish You full success in the cause of achieving all-sided and steady development of economy. France expecting with impatience your visit at the opening of upcoming exhibition of Azerbaijan artists in Paris, in September, aspires as never to contribute in development of your country.
