IAU PRO-RECTOR VISITS BAKU STATE UNIVERSITY
First pro-rector of Islamic Azad University (IAU), doctor of philosophy Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri and his accompanying delegation visited Thursday the Baku State University (BSU).
They met with rector of BSU, member of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament), academician Abel Maharramov who stressed the importance of bilateral educational cooperation.
Maharramov also said the University is home to 18,000 students.
He said there is the oriental studies department at the University where students learn Turkish, Persian, Chinese and Japanese.
Maharramov also noted Azerbaijani students show special interest in studying Persian.
Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri expressed satisfaction with the meeting.
He spoke about what his country is doing to develop its education system.
Mazaheri said the Islamic Azad University has a large number of branches and enrolls a total of 1.8 mln students.
The meeting also discussed prospects for experience exchange between the two universities.
Pro-rector for international relations at the BSU, Professor Nargiz Pashayeva was present at the meeting.
