INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON LEASING
Opening the conference attended by representatives of governmental bodies, international organizations, financial organizations and private sector, Minister of Economic Development Farhad Aliyev said that the event aims at stimulating market of leasing services in Azerbaijan and attracting internal and foreign investments to finance this sector.
Director of the Partner Organization for Private Sector Development of the International Finance Corporation Christian Grossman, head of OSCE office in Baku Peter Burkhard, SECO representative Davorka Rzehak, chairman of the board of the National Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov, deputy Minister of Economic Development Mikail Jabbarov, deputy Minister of Taxes Natig Gasimov, chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev and vice-president of Association of Banks of Azerbaijan Chingiz Asadullayev told of the finance and banking system of Azerbaijan, non-oil sector, role of private sector in the state revenue formation, positive effect of leasing on the small and medium entrepreneurship development etc.
The conference participants discussed the information on the problems and perspectives of the leasing legislation of Azerbaijan, financial characteristics of leasing, financial services development etc.
It was noted that leasing is one of the most important methods to ensure economic development. However, conference participants came to conclusion that despite having little experience in leasing Azerbaijan should approach this issue more seriously.
About 20 reports were heard on the first day of the conference.
